Mission Accomplished

2:38:36 chip time and a 7:19 PR. Overall, I'm extremely happy with the effort. I finished strong and didn't feel like I left anything out on the course.

A full report to follow.

Greg, what you have accomplished is only to be expected, given your talent, work ethic, and determination. At least the spirit of my own training this summer and fall has been inspired by your example (if not your speed).

But ultimately it's not the POD system, or the sequence, quality, or quantity of workouts. On race day it usually comes down to character, and you obviously have that in spades. And I feel today must have meant a great deal to your family as well.

Congratulations on finding the mental and spiritual toughness to make the most of what must have been a challenging year. You are a real inspiration, in many ways.

What a long, strange, bittersweet trip it's been! You've got a champion's heart, my friend. You've inspired a whole lot of us to try harder, work harder, cheer louder and celebrate longer. You've earned the smile on your face...and left all of us smiling along with you.

Congrats Greg. When you can knock 7+ min off a PR, especially one that's already 2:45, that's awesome.

Very nice, Greg! That's the way you do it.....Time for a well deserved break. It was fun watching your training this year and then watching you deliver. I'll be honest, I had my doubts. Not that you couldn't run as fast as you did but maintaining those high mile weeks for the whole year....Congrats....See you at Shamrock Shuffle next Spring.

Hey Greg,

I was just reading some of your blogs and wanted to say congrats on your PR in Chicago and the new baby.. I ran a 9 minute PR for a 2:40 this year at Chicago.. I can relate to your description of the race..

Your other blog regarding your trip to the foot doctor is crazy. I went to see a sports medicine doctor today about a bone spur that had given me "2" ankles.. the doctor recommended no surgery right now although he thinks it will eventually come to that.. I figure I will keep on running and it will sort itself out..

Rick
